Today, St. Mary's County is home to the Naval Air Station Patuxent River. Major tenant commands include the Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters (NAVAIR), Naval Air Warfare Center-Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), and many other tenant activities known as leaders in aviation and advanced technology. Anne Arundel County borders the beautiful Chesapeake Bay and is equidistant from Washington D.C. and Baltimore. The city's historic district is a major tourist attraction and gathering place for dining, shopping and entertainment. King George County is a county located in the U.S. state — officially, "Commonwealth" — of Virginia. Its county seat is King George located primarily on Courthouse Road. The county's largest employer is the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division proving ground facility at Dahlgren, Virginia, which is adjacent to the 2-lane, 2-mile long Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge carrying U.S. Highway 301 over the Potomac River
